Sorting Through College Football's Undefeateds
Through five weeks of play, a total of 18 teams have spotless records. Yet, as the Kansas States and Floridas and Texas Techs have shown us in the past, scheduling your way to undefeated this early in the season is imminently doable.
So, how can we sort out who's for real and who's pulling a fast one on the college football world? Well, there's always the eye test. Of course, I know plenty of eyes that have been known to see what they want to see.
If you're searching for something a little bit more objective, how about looking at the records of the undefeateds' opponents? For good measure, tease out the head-to-head results of games against the unbeaten teams in question. (For example, excluding its loss to Oklahoma, Florida State is 4-0.)
