Shakedown Saturday Approaches
Slowly but surely, the undefeateds are falling by the wayside.
Last weekend, LSU and Wisconsin suffered their first blemish. At least one more will go down this weekend, as unbeaten Cincinnati travels to South Florida on Thursday night for a showdown that will determine the who has the inside track for the Big East title and the opportunity to be the first undefeated team from a power conference to get snubbed for the championship game in favor of a one-loss team.
A number of other highly ranked squads face tough road tests in what is shaping up to be one of the best weekly slates of games this season:
- Texas versus Oklahoma in Dallas;
- Virginia Tech at Georgia Tech;
- USC at Notre Dame;
- Iowa at Wisconsin;
- Boise State at Tulsa.
I bet at least two from that group go down. I'm going to beat ESPN to the punch and dub this weekend's slate "Shakedown Saturday."
Next week's power poll could look very different.
