Weaknesses: The entire defense
For a team that has sunk so many first rounders into its defense lately, the Chiefs D really sucked last year. K.C. ranked 31st in total defense in 2008, finishing near the bottom of the league against both the run and pass.
That makes every position essentially a need, but the Chiefs' search should begin and end with one player: Aaron Curry.
Curry, last year's Butkus Award winner, is as strong of a defensive prospect as a team could ask for in this draft. Besides being an outstanding leader for the Demon Deacons, Curry boasts a versatile skill set and should be able to step in immediately to contribute. In particular, Curry excels at stopping the run, finishing with 66 unassisted tackles and 105 total for the year. He may not set the world on fire rushing the passer, but he does cover the pass well.
If the first two picks in Homerism-land created a stir at Radio City Music Hall, this one should be no surprise at all. Curry is a no-brainer.
