Picks Trying Not to Suck: Week 6
In a rush this week. Let's hit it.
BLATANT HOMERISM--Week 6
(Last Week: 3-2; Overall: 15-10)
Maryland at Ohio State (-31)
The Buckeyes appear to have returned to doing that thing where they mercilessly slaughter inferior opponents. That applies to the Terrapins when they’re at full strength, and now they’re down to their third-string quarterback.
The pick: OSU 49, Terps zip.
West Virginia at TCU (-13.5)
Did you happen to see what happened last week when Virginia Tech’s offense was on the field? The Hokies has zero chance of moving the ball on Clemson.
Now think back to when West Virginia played Tech in week one – Tech did the Hokey Pokey on that D all night long.
This is a roundabout way of saying that I don’t see the Horned Frogs’ offense encountering much resistance on Saturday afternoon. With revenge on the brain, TCU could make this ugly.
The pick: TCU 52, WVU 28.
Tulsa at Tulane (-4.5)
On the one hand, the Golden Hurricane have already seen their fair share of option this year. On the other, to say they’ve handled it poorly would be kind.
With the Green Wave coming off a bye week, they’ll be rested and refreshed for the visit from the ‘Cane. Sounds like a storm is brewing.
The pick: TU – of the New Orleans variety.
Texas Tech at Kansas (+16.5)
Danger game for the Red Raiders a week after nearly knocking off Oklahoma State.
Continuing a theme, KU had a week off to prepare for Tech, and this game will offer one of the few chances for the Jayhawks to get a conference win in 2017. They’ll be fired up.
If TTU spent the last week kicking its wounds, watch out. Either way, I bet KU holds its own.
The pick: Tech by not enough, if at all.
San Diego State at UNLV (+9.5)
After the first month of the season, the Aztecs have the most misleading undefeated record in the country. Northern Illinois outgained SDSU substantially last week.
As for UNLV, the Runnin’ Rebels aren’t as awful as usual.
The pick: Take the points.
