Linking Up: Handicapping the Big 12 race

*I've hit the podcast circuit lately. A couple to check out:

  • I joined Adam Burke of BangTheBook this week to break down the Big 12 conference race and look at a few of the intriguing lines in the first week of the college football season.
  • Will Baizer of 4th and 5 had me on his show last week to discuss the top stories coming out of Big 12 media days.

*Athlon asked me to offer a few reasons why the Sooners will make the College Football Playoff, along with a few reasons why they won't.

*Eddie Maisonet tells us which teams should join the Big 12.

*Speaking of the Big 12's future, the guys at RedRaiderSports.com weighed in with their thoughts on what they hope to see for Texas Tech. For fans, it's too easy to get caught up in looking at all the conference maneuvering through OU's lens.

*Mike DeCourcy of the Sporting News makes the case for the schools that should be feeling the most realignment remorse. I have a feeling he'll get just a little bit of blowback here.

*Happy trails to the guys at Black Heart, Gold Pants, who are moving on to another project. Don't know what it is about the Hawkeyes, but I'll be damned if Iowa doesn't produce some of the best college football writers around.

*I'm a cynic, but even I was surprised by how open Art Briles' former coaching contemporaries seem to be towards him returning to the sidelines soon. I do wonder how the administrations at their schools would feel about that prospect, though.
