24. Navy
25. Ole Miss

Just missed the cut: Appalachian State, Northwestern, UCLA

Notes:

*A razor-thin gap exists between Clemson and LSU. Looking at each team's best win, I think Notre Dame is stronger than Florida. That's enough for me to raise Clemson to the top spot.

*As always, I try to vote based on body of work. Iowa isn't the fourth-best team in the country, but relative to the other teams with comparable records, the Hawkeyes have actually beaten a decent group of opponents. If I'm on the selection committee, I'm hoping Iowa loses soon and makes my life a little easier.

*In the context of these rankings, that Pitt-UNC game on Thursday feels slightly intriguing.

*I'm knocking Baylor down for its schedule, not the fact that the Bears lost Seth Russell for the season.

*Important games to watch on Saturday for rankings purposes: Notre Dame at Temple, Oklahoma State at Texas Tech, Florida-Georgia, Ole Miss at Auburn.
