Picks Trying Not to Suck: Week 4

BH came back to earth last week. Meanwhile, the Skinny was put in the rare position of having one of his picks postponed.

What's in store for this week?

The Skinny
(Last Week: 2-2; Overall: 8-6)

Wake Forest at Army (+3) - Love Army as a home dog. Wake is bad!

Pick: Army getting the field goal.

Kansas State (+5.5) at Texas - Who is picking the ABC/ESPN prime time games? Didn't we suffer enough with Notre Dame-Purdue?

Pick: This is an easy one. Mack is done.

Michigan State (+6.5) at Notre Dame - Speaking of ND, I think they are in for a tough one sandwiched between two road games and OU next week.

Pick: ND wins close.

Boise St at Fresno St (-3.5) - Fresno is the new Boise.

Pick: I'll take Fresno.

SMU (+28.5) at Texas A&M - If that Alabama-A&M game last weekend featured two Big 12 teams, the story line would be about the terrible defenses in Big 12. A&M's D is bad!

Pick: SMU will score points in a letdown spot for A&M.

Blatant Homerism
(Last Week: 2-3; Overall: 11-4)

SMU (+28.5) at Texas A&M - As the Aggies were squaring off against Alabama last weekend, the Mustangs were at home relaxing and reliving glory days while they leafed through the latest Sports Illustrated.

Pick: Pony express.

Arizona State (+7) at Stanford - I still think we might be giving the Cardinal just a little too much love. Here, they're coming off a 3,000-mile road trip.

(By the way, picture all the coaches in the Pac-12 gathered around a conference room table for their annual meeting. Pretty bizarre group, no?)

Pick: Stanford in a squeaker.

Clemson (-14) at North Carolina State - "A double-digit road favorite on a Thursday night? BH, you're giving the gambling gods the finger!" I don't mind taunting the deities when the Wolfpack are involved.

Pick: Let Vic Beasley eat.

West Virginia (+5.5) vs. Maryland - Another road team? What of it. Holgo should have a plan in place exploit the Terps' battered secondary.

Pick: WVU, and make it outright.

Colorado State (+38.5) at Alabama - Would Nick Saban really try to humiliate one of his former lieutenants? Wait, don't answer that.

Pick: Crimson Tide by 35.
